When We Left Earth is the story of mankind's greatest adventure, leaving the earth and living in space. For the first time this series has digitally re-mastered the original film and audio recordings from NASA's vaults, including and all the key on-board footage filmed by the astronauts themselves. From John Glenn's Mercury mission to orbit the earth, to Neil Armstrong's first historic steps on the moon, to the unprecedented spacewalks required to repair the Hubble telescope, these epic stories are shown in stunning clarity and told by the astronauts and engineers who were there.

E01-Ordinary Supermen: NASA selects seven men to become the first astronauts. They're all test pilots, prepared to risk their lives. No one has ever survived a vertical launch on top of a rocket, but it's the only way they know to put an astronaut into earth orbit. America's first astronauts, the Mercury Seven, are on a journey into the unknown. Six of the men ride into space, each launch taking NASA further forward in their quest to conquer space.

E02-Friends and Rivals: Nine new astronauts arrive at NASA; their mission, to test all the procedures required to land men on the moon and bring them safely back to earth. Each Gemini mission launches two men into space, leading to some of NASA's greatest moments -- Ed White's spacewalk, the first orbital rendezvous of Gemini 6 and 7, and Neil Armstrong's first space docking.

E03-Landing the Eagle: The Apollo program is set to achieve the ultimate prize of the Space Race, landing men on the moon. But a fire breaks out in the pressurized capsule of Apollo 1, resulting in the deaths of three beloved astronauts. However, NASA rebounds, launching men into deep space and landing Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon.

E04-The Explorers: Apollo 13 puts the astronauts to the ultimate test, returning a damaged spacecraft back safely to earth. Apollo 17 sends man for the longest mission yet to the surface of the moon, but it's the last lunar mission for generations. Now, it's time for a new phase in the program. Converting an unused Saturn V rocket, NASA launches Skylab, America's first space-station.

E05-The Shuttle: For its first 20 years, NASA launches capsules carrying a maximum of three people. However, new requirements for a bigger cargo bay prompt a breakthrough in spacecraft design. The development of the re-usable shuttle leads to a revolutionary approach to space travel. Add to that more than four hours of bonus films, clips, highlights, and interviews and you have a 4-disc release that's well worth the cost of admission. I simply can't recommend this one enough.

The film shows the story of life on a Danish boarding school for boys in the seventies. The focus is on the conflict between the headmasters old fashioned view of life and the much more liberal views of the boys. At one point the boy Ole is expelled for hanging pornographic pictures in the bathroom, but the boys won't let him be expelled and unite against the old fashioned views of the headmaster. Finally the teachers have to let Ole stay. We also follow Bo (15) and Kim (12) who is the headmasters son. They become very intimate and even though it is clearly more than just a friendship it is portrayed in a very innocent manner. There relationship is not portrayed as a struggle with sexual identities, but rather as something natural. They do not hide it from the other boys at school who seem to consider it normal. The film ends with all the boys at school showing a film they have made about...

This film offers a tasteful and dignified handling of a sensitive subject matter which is often treated as taboo.

This is not merely an enjoyable film, but it is a very unique and important movie too. This is the case because it approaches with taste and dignity a sensitive subject matter which is often regarded as taboo. The subject is that of homosexuality between teens and preteens. Bo is a 15 year-old boy who finds himself smitten with Kim, who is younger and extremely handsome. Kim more than reciprocates Bo's interest and passion. The result is a beautiful and loving relationship between two nice and decent boys. The movie contains incidental nudity and fabricated intimacy, however it is in no way vulgar or dirty. A previous viewer remarked that the musical score is unremarkable, but I found it to be both beautiful and catchy. Any youth who has experienced feelings similar to Bo's and Kim's may have found it difficult or damaging to attempt to discuss these matters with influential people, such as parents, teachers or peers. This may tend to cause such youngsters to feel isolated and defective. This movie offers vindication and progressiveness, even if the level of acceptance which Bo and Kim enjoyed is unfortunately somewhat fantastic. Maybe it's true, as this movie suggests, that characters like Bo and Kim (and people like me) really are not all alone in this world.

Relax. This is a wholesome film.

A very fine short film written by Jean-Julien Chervier. It's a story of a woman who brings her son to a vacation spot at a nudist camp. The boy, played by Marc Beffa, shows he is a lot wiser that most folks would perceive him to be, as he faces a life challenge of knowing the right thing to do when he meets one of the other female tourists at the camp and the two find themselves on a path to a budding romance. The lead female, played by Geraldine Martineau, is nude through most of this film, although Geraldine is indeed an adult so no controversy in that department. Trivia: Geraldine, it is understood, was well into her 20s when she played her role in this film 2009.

Basically the film is about the main character overcoming fears that have haunted him up until that visit to the camp, and the 'thawing out,' as the title implies, reveals in the boy someone about to become a very responsible yet gentle young man who realizes the importance of a well- thought out decision with respects to folks around him.

Nicely filmed in the hills of France, with the participation of Arte France Television and the Center of National Cinematography, and backed by the Aquitaine Region and the Department of Health, you are assured that this short film was produced under strict guidelines and regulations in order to insure that all was done in accordance to laws and proper procedure. La Fonte des Neiges has aired on French national television and has toured the French and U.S. film festivals.

La Fonte des Neiges is one of the very rare naturist-nudist based films where a good sense of responsibility is exhibited at a time when romance sets in and represents a potentially consequential proposition.
